| Mr. Mister Then: Based in L.A., soft metal artists Mr. Mister were the brainchild of Richard Page (bass/vocals) and Steve George (keyboards). Both were refugees of a band called the Pages. They were both also experience session men, working alongside REO Speedwagon and John Parr. Upset with helping create some big hits for other artists without credit for it, they formed a band for themselves. The band was complete when they added Steve Farris (guitar) and Pat Mastelotto (drums) in 1982. Their debut was 1984's I Wear The Face which provided a minor US hit "Hunters Of The Night." The next album broke the band by scaling to the top of the charts and delivering two US #1 singles in "Broken Wings" and "Kyrie." It also included a minor US hit "Is It Love." The album's release coincided with a marathon tour supporting Tina Turner. Both singles also made the UK top 20. After the release of a follow-up album that didn't do so well, Farris left, a new guitarist was added, Page declined offers to take on lead vocals for Toto and Chicago and the band disappeared from musicdom. Now: Richard Page has released a solo album during the 90's but other than that he's pretty much missing in action. |
