| Marx, Richard Then: Born in Chicago, Illinois, Richard started his career at the age of 5 by singing on advertising jingles. This became a professional career for him until he moved on to becoming a backup vocalist for Lionel Richie. After that he wasn't far from his solo career. A string of hits began with "Don't Mean Nothing" before he put together a run of three consecutive US #1 hits with "Hold On To The Nights," "Satisfied," and "Right Here Waiting." He also wrote the Kenny Rogers hit "What About Me." He seemed unable to fail with his big ballad formula, yet never achieved the same kind of success since. He also married Cynthia Rhodes of Animotion in August 1989. Now: Richard released a Greatest Hits package and continues to work on new material. He's also gotten into production by co-authoring and producing a new album by ex-Tubes frontman Fee Waybill. Both Richard and Cynthia do backup vocals on Fee's new album. |
