Cutting Crew

Then: Fronted by Canadian guitarist/vocalist Nick Van Eede, Cutting Crew was formed when two disolving bands (Fast Forward and The Drivers) were on a Canadian tour. Nick and guitarist Kevin Scott MacMichael found themselves recording demos shortly after in 1986 and adding Martin Beadle on drums and Colin Farley on bass. Their debut single "(I Just) Died In Your Arms" reached #4 in the UK but shocked many by grabbing the US #1 spot in the spring of '87. Off the debut album Broadcast the singles "One For The Mockingbird" and "I've Been In Love Before" also scored with a top 40 and top 10 spot in the US. The single "Everything But My Pride" from the follow-up album The Scattering showed they still had writing talent but sales on it and the next album Compus Mentus showed slowing interest.

Now: 1993 brought a "Best Of..." collection to the public. And current rumors have it that a 4th album is in the works.
