| The Colourfield Then: After leaving The Fun Boy Three, Hall relocated to Manchester. Unusually enough, he found work with two more Coventry musicians Karl Shale and Toby Lyons. Distancing the ska feel they adopted more acoustic based melodies with string arrangements. Appropriately, in January 1984, they released the single "The Colourfield". It seemed like they were now being overlooked. The single "Take" (arguably the best song he's written) and a cover of the classic "Windmills Of Your Mind" didn't catch either. It was 1985's "Thinking Of You" that cracked them into the U.K. Top 20 off their debut album Virgins And Philistines. 1987's follow-up Deception was released after a lot of internal wrangling amongst the band and many unfinished tracks were recorded with Raquel Welch's backing band. The Colourfield was disolved afterwards. Now: Hall went off to form a one-off album with a few ladies he recruited with a love for classic pop music. In 1990, under the moniker Terry, Blair and Anouchka they would record the album Ultra Modern Nursery Rhymes. He would also collaborate with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics under the name Vegas in 1992 for an album and later release a few solo recordings. |
