Then: Best known for her duets with James Ingram, Patti Austin started as a child performer. She started working on many television variety shows and in the theater with the help of godmother Dinah Washington. Under the wing of Quincy Jones, she began professional recording at the age of 17 after. Also she became as a busy session vocalist in the 70's doing work for Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Paul Simon, George Benson, Joe Cocker and Roberta Flack. She also had lead vocals on Quincy Jones' Grammy-winning classic composition "The Dude" in 1982. After a disapointing release, the duet with James Ingram "Baby Come To Me" tops the U.S. charts for two weeks in 1983 when the song gets featured on daytime soap opera General Hospital and gets reissued due to public demand. Many other minor hits would follow but her mainstay would be lending vocals to other peoples projects.

Now: Patti has performed extensively throughout the Far East where she is immensely popular. She's been doing Christmas benefit shows to support AIDS research and making a few television appearances from Joan Rivers' Show to Hangin' With Mr. Cooper. Also in 1998 she released her latest album In & Out Of Love with a cover of Seals And Crofts classic "Summer Breeze."
