The Assembly

Then: When Depeche Mode founder/songwriter Vince Clarke left his next band Yazoo (Yaz), he crossed paths with another vocal talent. Vocalist Feargal Sharkey fresh from three critically acclaimed albums with The Undertones was looking for a project. Their collaboration resulted in the single, "Never Never," which reached the UK #4 spot in November 1983. No album was ever recorded by the duo. Vince moved on to several other such liaisons with Neil Arthur of Blancmange, The The's genius Matt Johnson and Paul Quinn of Orange Juice. That was until Clarke met Andy Bell.

Now: Feargal Sharkey has stayed a solo artist since 1983 and hasn't looked back. Vince Clarke took vocalist Andy Bell and made hits. So if you haven't heard of Erasure before, bow your heads in shame.
