| Art Of Noise Then: AON formed around the talent of Anne Dudley, J.J. Jeczalik, and Gary Langan in 1983. They were one of the first bands signed to Trevor Horn's ZTT Records (they were part of his production team during the early 80's). Dudley had the most experience after doing musical arrangements for Frankie Goes To Hollywood, ABC, and even Paul McCartney. It was 1984 when they had their first hit with "Close (To The Edit)" making the UK Top 10. Remember the video on MTV with the chainsaw taking apart a piano on train tracks? They switched labels and adopted the idea of working with other artists. Which brought hits with a remake of "Peter Gunn" with Duane Eddy (UK Top 10), "Paranoimia" with Max Headroom and possibly the most unique was Tom Jones on a version of Prince's "Kiss." Now: Art Of Noise split in 1990 with Anne Dudley going to work with Phil Collins and Killing Joke's Jaz Coleman. Several different remixes of AON music still comes out from ambient to house. Trevor Horn, Paul Morley, Anne Dudley and new addition Lol Creme (of 10cc) regrouped as Art of Noise in 1999 with The Seduction Of Claude Debussy. |
