The Alarm

Then: Originally known as Seventeen, the Alarm formed in Wales around Eddie MacDonald (bass), Nigel Twist (drums), Mike Peters and David Sharp sharing vocals and guitar chores. They scored their first UK hit with the song "68 Guns" and were often said to be a merging of U2's political motivation with The Clash's punk delivery. The group evolved into a solid rock band with hits like "Strength," "Spirit of '76," "Rain In The Summertime" and "Rescue Me." And further evolution on their last album Raw brought the single "Sold Me Down The River" in 1991 but so much change destroyed the band.

Now: Peters went solo for a few albums and in 1998 joined up with ex-Cult guitarist Billy Duffy in a new project. A new Alarm line-up is set to tour with Peters to support a Alarm box set at the end of 2000.
