Adamski

Then: Adam Tinley (ex-Stupid Babies) was at the right place at the right time during Britain's acid-house boom. As a member of the post-punk hip-hop band Diskord Datkord during the mid-'80s, Tinley took his interest in house music and started using it by the end of the 80's. After learning the basics of the sequencer programing from well known London rave dj's he started merging the sound with his songwriting. He signed with MCA and debuted with "N-R-G," a UK #12. He would later have to pay royalties after a British court decided the track had a large sample of melody from TV commercial. Without the use of liberated samples the follow-up single, "Killer," hit number one which was co-written featured the vocals of Seal. A full length debut album, Liveandirect (Doctor Adamski's Musical Pharmacy in the US), would be released with remixes of both singles and the track, "I Want You Back," with a vocal contribution by Kurtis Blow at the end of 1989.

Now: Next year's single "The Space Jungle" hit the UK Top 10 and Adamski disappeared from the charts until 1992, when his third album Naughty was released. Six years later, he would resurface on ZTT (whom Seal was also signed to and run by producer Trevor Horn) with Adamski's Thing.
