| Abba Then: Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus start a songwriting partnership and hire out singers Agnetha Faltskog and Frida Lyngstad. Ulvaeus marries Faltskog and Andersson marries Lyngstad two months before the first two file for divorce. In 1981 they too will also divorce. After two volumes of best of albums during the 70's, ABBA was still in full stream on world musical domination. Hit singles kept coming with songs: "Chiquitita," "The Winner Takes It All," "Super Trouper," and ending with "Under Attack" in 1982. A backlash against disco and the band helps put a nail in their coffin when they announce a break up in 1983. But their music carried on in many ways. In 1984 their song "The Day Before You Came" charts 10 places higher when remade by the band Blancmange. In 1987 ABBA and their lawyers sued the JAM's (Justified Ancients of Mu Mu/KLF) for sampling "Dancing Queen" and the band Erasure records a live version of "Gimme Gimme Gimme" for their latest album The Two Ring Circus (they will later do a tribute EP called Abba-esque entirely remakes.) Also in 1988 a remake of "Lay All Your Love On Me" by Information Society is released. Now: Andersson and Ulvaeus continued their songwriting partnership and have kept a low profile. Faltskog married a Swedish surgeon and has distanced herself from the music business. And Lyngstad has become increasingly involved with environmental concerns.
