This week Soft Cell returns with the release of Cruelty Without
Beauty their first studio album since 1984's This Last Night In Sodom. The U.S. release includes a second CD with
remixes and the "Monoculture" video.
Not to be outdone by Elvis' 31-track chart-topping collection, a Roy Orbison compilation comes out this week under
the title 50 All-Time Greatest Hits... but it doesn't include his Top Ten hit "You Got It."
Madonna's new single "Die Another Day" from the upcoming same-titled James Bond film is getting heavy
radio play on U.S. radio stations from a leaked copy of the song. The single will be released Oct. 22nd with the
video premiere on Oct. 10th.
Aztec Camera's Roddy Frame releases his new 13-track solo album Surf this week.
Adam Ant was sentenced on Wednesday to a year of community service, a year of rehab and ordered to pay Pavlos Contostavlos
$780 for the head injury caused when Ant threw a car alternator through a bar window.
The Dead Boys 1988 album Liver Than You'll Ever Be will be re-released this week. The late Stiv Bator's other band
Lords Of The New Church release a double-CD live album The Lord's Prayers Vol. II this week.
According to a poll of music industry figures compiled by U.K. music magazine Q, Bono is currently the most powerful
man in music. Bono has also been chosen the 2003 MusiCares Person Of The Year.
Next week will be a busy one for Tracy Chapman. Chapman releases her latest album Let It Rain (featuring the new
single "You're The One"), will perform on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and will have her own online

A 3-disc 20-track digitally remastered Tangerine Dream anthology titled Journey Through A Burning Brain will be
released this week.
Reports are circulating that Whitney Houston is being sued for a little over $100 million by her father's company
John Houston Entertainment. According to the claims, she is allegedly in breach of contract after failing to pay
for their services which included securing a new record deal and help during her marijuana possession arrest. Her
father denies backing the lawsuit.
According to a statement from Marie Fredricksson's manager, the Roxette vocalist came through brain surgery with
flying colors. She will be spending the rest of the year in recuperation.
Bon Jovi's Bounce will not be held back. A U.S. District Court judge denied the request for a preliminary injunction
that would have blocked the album's release. The suit against Universal Music Group is still pending in the Southern
District of New York.
A 'continuous in-the-mix' CD compiled and mixed by Boy George titled A Night With Boy George is sheduled for release
this week.
In a statement released by The Nephilim (Fields Of The Nephilim officially broke up in 1991,) the new album Fallen
and single "From The Fire" out this week by Jungle Records aren't officially endorsed or being promoted
by the current band who have been working on a new album. "Those tracks used are incomplete pieces or early

during Buffett's concert in Redwood City, CA suffered severe injuries after a 50 foot plunge from a stage canopy
to the top of Buffett's tour bus.
The Fall double-CD compilation Totally Wired: The Rough Trade Anthology containing 31 digitally remastered tracks

Michael Jackson's charity 9/11 single "What More Can I Give" is finally getting airplay at New York's
WKTU-FM but currently without permission. It seems that not all the artists participating on the single were cleared
and actual ownership of the song could be up in the air.

David Gilmour has pretty much squashed any idea of him rejoining his former Pink Floyd bandmates any time soon.

While currently writing new songs for their next album, The Breeders will join the cast of Buffy The Vampire Slayer
