A clarification of the legal agreement between brothers Jay and Michael Aston over the use of the name "Gene Loves Jezebel" has been announced.  Jay Aston's version of the band will be know as Gene Loves Jezebel outside the U.S. and as Jay Aston's Gene Loves Jezebel inside the U.S.  Michael Aston's band will be known as Gene Loves Jezebel in the U.S. and Michael Aston's Gene Loves Jezebel outside the U.S.

Former Noiseworks and INXS vocalist Jon Stevens, 46, has been held over at the hospital after suffering some post-operative complications (infection and fluid around the heart) from his emergency open-heart surgery.  Stevens released one single, "I Get Up," with INXS in 2003 before departing the band.  The song appeared on the game EA Sports Rugby 2004 and INXS²: The Remixes.

Motorhead drummer Mikkey Dee wound up finishing third on the reality TV series Kändisdjungeln (the Swedish version of the popular U.K. and U.S. show I'm A Celebrity.Get Me Out Of Here!)

Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith will co-host this year's Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo on Dec. 11th.

Pearl Jam's Backspacer debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.  Whitney Houston's I Look To You fell 2 places to #4.  Harry Connick Jr.'s Your Songs debuted at #8.  George Strait's Twang dropped 6 spots to #32.  Megadeth's Endgame fell 27 places to #36.  Reba McEntire's Keep On Loving You dropped 9 spots to #38.

Michael Franti & Spearhead featuring Cherine Anderson's "Say Hey (I Love You)" climbed 2 spots to #22 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Foreigner have broken into the top 30 (at #27) on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Airplay chart with the new single ,"When It Comes To Love," off their new album, Can't Slow Down.

Madonna's new retrospective collection, Celebration, debuted at #1 on the U.K. Albums chart (also topping the charts in Germany, Italy, Ireland and Denmark.)  Cliff Richard & The Shadows' Reunited debuted at #6.  Vera Lynn's We'll Meet Again: The Very Best Of Vera Lynn fell 5 places to #7.  Pearl Jam's Backspacer debuted at #9.  Madness' Total Madness debuted at #11.  Richard Hawley's Truelove's Gutter debuted at #17.  Michael Bolton's One World One Love debuted at #19.  Tommy Steele's The Very Best Of Tommy Steele debuted at #22.  Michael Jackson's The Essential dropped 3 spots to #23.  Mark Knopfler's Get Lucky fell 15 places to #24.  Michael Jackson's Bad held steady at #38.

Madonna's "Celebration" fell 5 places to #8 on the U.K. Singles chart.  

I, Ludicrous have released their new single, "We're The Support Band," worldwide digitally via iTunes and other major online music stores.  A video for the song can be seen on their MySpace page.

Michael McDonald has released his new holiday album, This Christmas, to stores.  The album includes a duet with his 17 year-old daughter, Scarlett, on "I'll Be Home For Christmas."

Ozzy Osbourne recently announced via his Twitter account, "I just passed my driving test.  Took me 60 years, but I did it!  For the first time in my life, I'm legal to drive, so watch out!"

Timed to coincide with the British leg of their tour, Rhino will release a new double-CD remastered 36-track compilation, The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac, on Oct. 19th in the U.K.

Marcie Free (formerly Mark Free of Signal and King Kobra) has reunited the original line-up of Unruly Child and are recording a new studio album to be released next year.

Dolly Parton will see the release of a 4-CD box set entitled Dolly which can be pre-ordered at SonyLegacy.com.  Fans that pre-order the set will also receive a free limited edition copy of the exclusive bonus CD, A Real Live Dolly.

Rainbow was recently celebrated with a new 28-track double-CD rarities collection, Anthology 1975-1983.

Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav has been working on a new reality series that would see the 10th grade drop-out return to high school to receive his diploma.

Blind Boys Of Alabama will release a special 14-track anthology, Duets, which includes their recordings with Randy Travis, Timothy B. Schmit and Bonnie Raitt as well previously unreleased recordings with Lou Reed, Dan Zanes and Toots Hibbert.  Duets is due out on Oct. 27th via Saguaro Road Records and is preceded by the new single, "Perfect Peace," with Hibbert.

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has a new side project with Radiohead's Thom Yorke.  They plan on playing a few live shows this month and haven't named the project yet.

Rainbow/MSG/Alcatrazz vocalist Graham Bonnet saw his 1987 out-of-print self-titled solo album and the previously unreleased No Bad Habits album released on Sept. 27th via Voiceprint.

Paul McCartney's 3-night stand at New York's CitiField stadium in July will be released on CD and DVD as Good Evening New York City on Nov. 17th.  The set showed McCartney performing many of his Beatles, Wings and solo hits as well as a guest appearance by Billy Joel.

Social Distortion have been road testing and working on songs during sound checks.  Plans are to release a new studio album next year.

Poison's Rikki Rockett has been confirmed as a judge for a new reality TV series called Rock Race to premiere in the spring.  The show takes 10 bands and has them compete on national television for a record deal and management contract.

A film based on the memoir, I Slept With Joey Ramone, written by his brother Mickey Leigh and Legs McNeil is on the way centering on the life of the Ramones lead singer.  Simon & Schuster is expected to publish the book via their Fireside imprint in December and Fox Searchlight is in negotiations for the project.

Journey released their double-DVD set, Live In Manila, on Oct. 2nd.  The show was filmed with RED technology (which uses special 4K HD cameras with a higher resolution than 35mm film) and shows the band performing for over 2 hours in a homecoming of new vocalist Arnel Pineda.

Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr and former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown are planning to write and record an album.  Brown told BBC News, "The idea is that Johnny writes the music and I write the words and the melodies."  Brown hopes to round out the supergroup with either bassist Paul Ryder of Happy Mondays or Mani formerly of Stone Roses.

Sparks will release their 22nd album, The Seduction Of Ingmar Bergman, as a 24-track double-vinyl on Nov. 2nd.  Several different versions of the album will also be released on Nov. 30th.

Echo & The Bunnymen will be preparing for their world tour behind their upcoming album, The Fountain, by performing and recording an exclusive iTunes Live from their Glasgow show at the Apple Store showcasing songs from the new album.

Drummer Stewart Copeland has a new autobiography, Strange Things Happen: A Life With The Police, Polo And Pygmies, on the way via HarperStudio.

Morrissey's new 26-track B-sides collection, Swords, will be released on Nov. 3rd.  18 of the songs were released with the 13 singles surfacing from his last 4 albums.

Rush are expected to release, Working Men, their first 'best of' live performance CD and DVD on Nov. 17th.

Shirley Bassey's new album, Performance, is due out on Nov. 9th in the U.K. and features collaborations with the Pet Shop Boys and John Barry.

The deluxe edition of the Chickenfoot debut album in the U.K. has been moved back from Oct. 26th to Nov. 23rd.

AC/DC announced the release of their ultimate 3CD/2DVD/1LP rarities box set which is due out on Nov. 9th for $199.  "The comprehensive collection of the band's studio and live rarities together in one place, remastered to sound better than ever (many on CD for the first time), on 3 CDs and 1 LP. 2 DVDs brings "Family Jewels" up to date plus the entire 2003 Circus Krone gig. A 164 page hard-cover book, collectible merchandise reproductions, and a working guitar amp make this a must-have for true AC/DC fans."  Meanwhile, Brian Johnson has clarified that the health problems that forced the postponing of 6 tour dates were "ulcers and such.  They were really uncomfortable and painful, which required me to seek immediate medical attention."  He was told by doctors to take some time to recuperate as they've been on the road non-stop since this time last year.

Rob Zombie's new studio album, Hellbilly Deluxe 2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls And The Systematic Dehumanization Of Cool, will be released on Nov. 17th.

Tony Bennett recently signed a $10 million contract with Sony-Columbia that will allow the label to reissue songs and albums from his early catalog.  Bennett will also be given $1 million for marketing any new album he releases.  The singer was recently in Las Vegas attending VegasTennis.com's Marty Hennessy Jr. Tennis Foundation benefit.

Columbia Records has announced the release of, A Cherry Cherry Christmas, a new Neil Diamond holiday album on Oct. 13th.

ZZ Top's double-disc Double Down Live will be released via Eagle Rock Entertainment on Oct. 20th.

Janet Jackson's new single, "Make Me," is now available on iTunes and Amazon.

Cinderella will see their July, 21, 2005 performance in Uncasville, Connecticut released on CD as Live At The Mohegan Sun on Nov. 6th.

Slayer's new studio album, World Painted Blood, will be released on Nov. 3rd.
