AC/DC have been forced to postpone 6 dates of their tour because Brian Johnson will need recovery time from a medical procedure.  Meanwhile, the band are set to make an announcement on 9/29/09 at their ACDCBacktracks.com Web site.  An unconfirmed report from ClassicRockMagazine.com has claimed the announcement will consist of news of an upcoming box set that will contain studio and live rarities, a DVD of their 2003 performance in Germany and a DVD compilation, Family Jewels 3 (1992-2009.)

The 2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominations have been announced with ABBA, Donna Summer, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, Kiss, LL Cool J, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, The Hollies and The Stooges being added to the ballot.

Wanda Jackson, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, will be honored on Sept. 30th with a street, Wanda Jackson Way, named in her honor in Oklahoma City.

Whitney Houston's I Look To You climbed a spot to #2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart on sales of 156,000 copies.  Megadeth's Endgame debuted at #9 on sales of 45,000 copies.  Mark Knopfler's Get Lucky debuted at #17.  George Strait's Twang fell 8 places to #26.  Ace Frehley's Anomaly debuted at #27.  Reba McEntire's Keep On Loving You dropped 8 spots to #29.

Michael Franti & Spearhead featuring Cherine Anderson's "Say Hey (I Love You)" dropped 3 spots to #24 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Ace Frehley's new studio album, Anomaly, also debuted at #2 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart.  KRS-One & Buckshot's Survival Skills debuted at #9.

Vera Lynn's We'll Meet Again: The Very Best Of Vera Lynn dropped a spot to #2 on the U.K. Albums chart.  Mark Knopfler's Get Lucky debuted at #9.  Michael Jackson's The Essential fell 5 places to #20.  Megadeth's Endgame debuted at #24.  Neil Diamond's Hot August Night/NYC dropped 7 spots to #30.  Jackson's Bad re-entered the chart at #38.

Madonna's new single, "Celebration," debuted at #3 on the U.K. Singles chart.  Cliff Richard & The Shadows' "Singing The Blues" debuted at #40.

Sony Music Entertainment plans to release a two-disc album of music inspired by the Sony Pictures film Michael Jackson's This Is It on Oct. 27th.  On Oct. 12th, the first new Jackson song to be released posthumously, "This Is It," will become available.  The film of the same name will head to theaters on Oct. 28th.

Anne Murray has written a new book, All Of Me, with author/journalist Michael Posner that will be published on Oct. 28th via Knopf Canada.  Murray talks about the successes and sacrifices that have come with her four-decade career.

John Foxx will see reissues of his 1997 album, Shifting City, and 2001's The Pleasures Of Electricity, on Oct. 19th in the U.K. in expanded double-CD versions.  He will also release a double-CD live album, In The Glow, that was recorded in 1983 that same day.

A new DVD, It Is Useless To Resist Us: 25 Years Of Information Society, will be released on Oct. 20th.  The performance was filmed in Philadelphia last year and contains 15 songs.  Additionally, the DVD contains all 5 videos released by the band when they were with Warner Records as well as the 9-track digital-only EP, Modulator, in MP3 format.

George Michael plans to release a new live DVD, Live In London, in the U.K. on Dec. 7th which was filmed during his 25 Live tour last year at London's Earls Court.

Grammy-winning banjo player Bela Fleck filmed his pilgrimage to Africa to rediscover his instrument's folk music roots for the new documentary, Bela Fleck: Throw Down Your Heart, which heads to DVD on Nov. 3rd.

The Flaming Lips have been filming a video for "Watching The Planets" from their upcoming album, Embryonic.  A video for "I Can Be A Frog" has already been released.

A new deluxe edition of Chickenfoot's eponymous debut album is on the way on Oct. 26th in the U.K.  The double-disc set will include a bonus DVD containing 60 minutes of live footage, behind-the-scenes interviews and the official promotional videos for the singles "Oh Yeah" and "Soap On A Rope."

Paul Di'Anno's autobiography, The Beast: Singing With Iron Maiden -- The Drugs, The Groupies... The Whole Story, will be released in paperback on Feb. 1st via John Blake Publishing Ltd.

Spandau Ballet appeared on GMTV on Friday to announce they are releasing a new single, "Once More," as well as an album of the same name via Mercury Records in November.  The album is made up of reworkings of some of their classic tracks and two new studio recordings.  Fans can also register at their www.SpandauBallet.com Web site and receive a free download of the new version of "Only When You Leave."

Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor has expressed an interest in collaborating with synthpop pioneer Gary Numan later this year or early next year.

The Def Jam Records label was celebrated during the recording of the 6th annual VH-1's Hip-Hop Honors on Sept. 23rd.  The Roots backed up Eminem (on LL Cool J's "Rock The Bells"), and Public Enemy (on "Rebel Without A Pause.)  KRS-One joined a few artists on a version of the Beastie Boys' "No Sleep Till Brooklyn."  Oran "Juice" Jones performed a quick verse of "The Rain" with host Tracy Morgan.  Jazzy Jeff also performed with Kid Rock.  The event will air on VH1 on Oct. 13th.

The first-ever Bon Jovi documentary, When We Were Beautiful, premieres on Showtime on Oct. 24th.  Harper Collins will release a companion book under the same title on Oct. 27th.  Bon Jovi's new album, The Circle, will be released on Nov. 10th.

Rhino plans to release the live album box set, Genesis Live 1973 - 2007, on Sept. 29th.  Included in the set is Three Sides Live (originally released in 1982 as a double-vinyl set and a 4th side of studio recordings) which was recorded in Germany in 1981.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood will see the release of a new CD/DVD collection, Frankie Say Greatest, on Nov. 2nd to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their classic Welcome To The Pleasuredome album.

Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper and Henry Rollins are among the rock celebrities that have shot scenes for the upcoming comedy film, Suck, which just made its worldwide premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Hope Sandoval is heading out on tour with the Warm Inventions to promote her new studio album, Through The Devil Softly, due out Sept. 29th.

The delay in the release of Bret Michaels' autobiography, Roses And Thorns: The Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy To My Reality, has allowed the Poison frontman to include stories about his incident at the Tonys and the summer tour with Def Leppard and Cheap Trick.  Originally due out in June, the book will now be published in April or May via Simon & Schuster.  As for upcoming projects, Michaels did an episode of VH1 Behind The Music that will premiere on Oct. 1st and is working on a few new TV shows (including a new chapter to 'Rock Of Love'.)

King Diamond plan to reissue their 1995 album, The Spider's Lullabye, and 1996's The Graveyard in remastered versions and include bonus material.  Their first-ever DVD will be released as early as this winter.

Rod Stewart will release his latest collection of covers, The Great American Soulbook, on Oct. 27th.

A new 71-disc super-deluxe box set, The Complete Miles Davis Columbia Album Collection, (composed of 52 double-CD albums in mini-LP replica jackets, a live DVD and previously unreleased material) heads to stores on Nov. 24th via Sony Legacy.

Bono recently spoke with Sun Media and mentioned that U2 have started a "rocking club album with beats and big guitars" with Rick Rubin with about 5 or 6 songs finished.  They also have 12 tracks done for the upcoming Songs Of Ascent and the work he and the Edge have done on Spider Man: The Musical.  So, essentially, expect more music from the band.

Kraftwerk's remastered box set, 12345678 The Catalogue, has been pushed back to a Nov. 16th release date in the U.K.  No date has changed for the release of the 8 individual albums on Oct. 5th.

White Lion vocalist Mike Tramp plans to release his new solo album, Mike Tramp & The Rock 'N' Roll Circuz, on Oct. 5th in Denmark and via MikeTramp.com.  Samples from the album can be heard at www.MySpace.com/MikeTramp for a limited time.

Former Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach and Bobby Brown are among the 8 celebrities who will attempt to lose unwanted pounds on the 7th season of VH1's Celebrity Fit Club.  The season will premiere on Feb. 14th.

Rosanne Cash will release her 12th studio album, The List, on Oct. 6th with a tracklist made up of songs that her father gave her in 1973.  Elvis Costello and Bruce Springsteen make guest appearances on the disc.

Depeche Mode have released "Hole To Feed" as the third single from their Sounds Of The Universe album.  A video for the track has is now up at YouTube and MySpace.

Sarah McLachlan releases her new single, "One Dream," on Sept. 29th via iTunes.  Fans can visit her MySpace page to sign up so they can hear the song first.

U.K. rock act FM have announced the first single from their upcoming studio album, Metropolis, will be "Wildside."  Fans can visit www.FMOfficial.com to view the FM Wildside teaser.  Six tracks recorded live by the band will join "Wildside" and "Dangerous" on the Wildside EP that will be released via iTunes in October.

The Foo Fighters new collection, Greatest Hits, will include two new tracks ("Wheels" and "Word Forward") when released on Nov. 3rd.  A deluxe edition will include a book of unreleased photos and a bonus DVD.  Meanwhile, Dave Grohl and Duff McKagan have recorded a song with Slash for his solo album due out next year.  Former bandmate Steven Adler also contributed to the new album and will return to the 3rd season of Celebrity Rehab as a special guest.

Guitarist Brian May told the BBC, in a recent interview, that a "grittier" film version of the Queen musical, We Will Rock You, is in the works.

Christian metal act Guardian will see their 1989 debut album, First Watch, remastered and reissued in a 20th anniversary edition featuring two bonus tracks by the band from an out-of-print 1987 compilation CD called California Metal.

The Love Hope Strength Foundation begins their 12-day trek to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro in East Africa on Sept. 27th.  Members of The Fixx, Squeeze and Stray Cats will join Alarm frontman/LHS co-founder Mike Peters on a journey through the Tanzanian wilderness in an effort to raise cancer awareness and support in the region.
