Depeche Mode vocalist Dave Gahan, 47, was overcome with a sudden feeling of physical discomfort just a few minutes before going on stage for their May 12th performance in Athens, Greece.  He was immediately transfered to the hospital.  They had hoped the singer would recover the following day to only postpone the event a day but according to a doctor on duty, his health condition would not allow it.  The band have been forced to also cancel Sounds Of The Universe tour dates in Istanbul, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia due to Gahan's severe bout of gastroenteritis.  He is currently undergoing further tests.  The band apologizes to all their fans for the inconvenience and wish Dave a speedy recovery.

Morrissey was forced to cancel his May 13th performance at Birmingham Symphony Hall due to illness.  He is on continued doctor's orders to rest, to ensure a complete recuperation.  Ticket holders have been advised to hang on to their tickets as they are working to reschedule that show as well as his performance at the London Royal Albert Hall.

Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell was taken by ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center after tearing a calf muscle during the first song of the band's performance on Sunday night at the Lakewood Amphitheatre.  Farrell was able to finish the show but has been told to stay off the leg for several days.  He returned to the stage with the band on Tuesday night to perform in Austin, Texas.

AllGood Entertainment Inc. plans to sue Michael Jackson to block him from performing his series of 50 shows at London's O2 Arena this year.  The music promoter contends that they signed a deal with Jackson's manager, Frank DeLeo, in November that committed the singer to perform in July 2010 with the Jackson Five and his sister Janet.  According to the terms of the agreement, Jackson would also not give another concert until that show.  A cease and desist letter was reportedly sent in March when they heard about the upcoming U.K. shows.  The planned concert scheduled for July 3, 2010 at Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas, is expected to be available as a pay-per-view event over the Internet that could earn Jackson upwards of $30 million for the show, according to AllGood Entertainment managing partner Patrick Allocco.  AEG Live CEO Randy Phillips has said that the claims are "completely meritless and have not impacted rehearsals in any way" for the shows beginning July 8th.

Boy George [George O'Dowd], 47, was released from Edmunds Hill Prison in Suffolk on Monday morning after serving 4 months of a 15 month sentence.  As a condition of his early release for good behavior, he has been fitted with an ankle monitoring device and been given a curfew.

Luiz Heitor Pinto da Luz recently told Brazil's Quem magazine that he has given his son, Jesus Luz, his approval of his relationship with Madonna.  "I don't know if there will be an actual wedding.  From what I have read there could be a sort of ritual, but I don't know Kabbalah... to know if it's valid or legal."

Peter Gabriel will receive Sweden's prestigious Polar prize later this year with Venezualian composer Jose Antonio Abreau.

The 30th Annual Blues Music Awards have named Albert Collins: Live At Montreux 1992 as Historical Album Of The Year.

Country music songstress Emmylou Harris has joined the 46-member Music Business Council, which Nashville's mayor says will help protect the city's brand name as "Music City."

Bob Dylan's Together Through Life fell 4 places to #5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart on sales of 51,000 copies.  The Twilight soundtrack dropped 4 spots to #10 on sales of 32,000.  Prince/Bria Valente's Lotus Flow3r/MPLSoUND/Elix3r climbed 4 places to #23.  The Newsboys' In The Hands Of God debuted at #28.  U2's No Line On The Horizon dropped 2 spots to #36.  Depeche Mode's Sounds Of The Universe fell 20 places to #38.

Eminem's "Old Time's Sake" featuring Dr. Dre debuted at #25 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.  Carrie Underwood's "I Told You So" featuring Randy Travis fell 6 places to #40.  Paula Abdul's latest single, "I'm Just Here For The Music," bowed at #87.

Bob Dylan's Together Through Life retained the #1 spot on the U.K. Albums chart.  Annie Lennox's The Collection fell 5 places to #16.  Chris De Burgh's Footsteps dropped 4 spots to #17.  U2's No Line On The Horizon climbed 8 places to #19.  Depeche Mode's Sounds Of The Universe dropped 10 spots to #22.

Ironik's "Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer)" featuring Chipmunk and Elton John retains the #3 spot on the U.K. Singles chart.

Paul Rodgers recently told Billboard.com that his collaboration with Queen has amicably come to an end after 5 years.  "My arrangement with (Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor) was similar to my arrangement with Jimmy (Page) in The Firm in that it was never meant to be a permanent arrangement."  He has also said that he sees the project as a huge success with their two world tours, live albums and last year's new studio effort, The Cosmos Rocks, and hasn't ruled out possibly working with them again in the future.

Paula Abdul has claimed that statements recently attributed to her about the effects she dealt with going through prescription drug withdrawal were taken out of context.

Gigatone Records has announced the release of Eddie Money's The Covers EP, Volume One which is now available at Amazon.com.  The 4-track collection includes covers of Train's "Drops Of Jupiter," The Beatles' "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window," AC/DC's "It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)" and the Four Tops' "Reach Out (I'll Be There)."

Rik Emmett and Dave Dunlop's project the Strung-Out Troubadours will release their new album, Push & Pull, on May 26th and can be pre-ordered at MapleMusic.com.

The Stone Roses will see their 1989 self-titled debut reissued in deluxe version in 3 different packages via Silvertone/Legacy on Aug. 11th to celebrate the celebrated disc's 20th anniversary.

Peter Murphy has recorded a cover of John Lennon's "Instant Karma" for a current ad campaign for Chase Bank.  The song will be released on iTunes in the next few weeks.

Former Saga singer/songwriter Michael Sadler has teamed up with Dream Theater's James Labrie in a new supergroup named Roswell Six.  Their debut album, Terra Incognita: Beyond The Horizon, will be released in June as part of a crossover project with author Kevin J. Anderson's new novel, Terra Incognita: The Edge Of The World.

Former Oingo Boingo frontman Danny Elfman will see his original score for the upcoming film Terminator Salvation head to stores on May 19th via Reprise Records.

According to a recent blog post at Journey's official Web site, Journey's Neal Schon has said that the band have been working on a lot of Journey "song ideas for sometime now and we will write our next album while on tour this year.  We're scheduled to go into the studio Oct and Nov 09' with Kevin Shirley again.  It promises to be a rocker."  They are also planning a full-length DVD from Manila due out during the holidays and a new documentary.

Former Pulp vocalist Jarvis Cocker will release his new studio album, Further Complications, on May 19th and The Guardian are streaming the disc as we speak.

Reba McEntire will release her new studio album, Keep On Loving You, on Aug. 18th which features her new single, "Strange."  She has also taped an upcoming CMT TV special, Invitation Only, expected to debut in August.

Manowar have recorded, "Father," the first track from their upcoming studio album in 16 different languages.  The song is about a son that witnesses his father's death based on the tale of Thor.  German best-selling fantasy author Wolfgang Hohlbein has been collaborating with the band on the album and as the band record the music, he's working on the related book.

Former UB40 frontman Ali Campbell plans to release his new solo studio album, Flying High, next month.  The first singe from the album will be "Out From Under."

Kylie Minogue has said that she has started work on her 11th studio album on which she hopes to find a slightly new style in her next step as an artist.

Axl Rose has signed on as producer for the upcoming film, Almost Home, which is based on the book by Jessica Blank.  Jon Bon Jovi was originally set to produce the film about 7 homeless teens from the streets of Los Angeles.

Beastie Boys Ad Rock and Mike D as well as Cyndi Lauper appeared on Thursday night's episode of NBC's 30 Rock.  Might have to check their site and go to the Watch Video area to catch it if you missed it.  Meanwhile, Lauper has canceled her summer European tour dates due to it clashing with production dates for the upcoming film Section B.  Lauper recently starred in the film Here And There which took home two Tribeca Film Festival awards.

B Is For Bob is not a new Bob The Builder collection but it is a childrens album executive produced by 4-time Grammy winner Ziggy Marley that will bring his father's music to a new generation.  B Is For Bob will be released by UMe/Island/Tuff Gong on June 23rd.

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler's publisher, Primary Wave Music, has signed a deal with gaming technology company GTECH to launch a band-branded series of lottery games based on "Dream On" and other songs from the group's catalog that will give fans a new way to win backstage passes, front-row seats and extra money to spend on concessions.  Rhode Island and New Hampshire will be the first states launching the themed lotteries this summer.

Kim Wilde's 1983 album, Catch As Catch Can, will be reissued in the U.K. this month in an expanded edition including 5 bonus tracks.

Former Vixen drummer Roxy Petrucci and sister Maxine Petrucci (former guitarist of Madam X) have debuted their new song, "Metal In My Veins," on Detroit's WRIF radio.

According to FMQB, Boys Don't Cry's latest single, "Don't Call Me A Country Singer," was recently the 2nd most added song to A/C radio stations on Apr. 27th.  On May 4th it retained that distinction and for May 13th the song was tied for most added song with Rascal Flatts' "Goodbye" and Rob Thomas' "Diamonds."

Bauhaus/Love & Rockets bassist/vocalist David J has helped out Budapest alternative rock act The Moog on harmonica and backing vocals on a cover of Bauhaus' 1981 single, "The Passion Of Lovers."  The song was recorded as a B-side to The Moog's new single, "You Raised A Vampire," due out on July 21st.

Siouxsie Sioux will see the release of a new DVD, Finale, in the U.K. on May 18th.  The disc was recorded during the last date of her Mantaray And More tour.

Elvis Costello will release his new studio album, Secret, Profane & Sugarcane, on June 2nd via Hear Music.  The collection includes 4 songs from his unfinished opera about the life of Danish author Hans Christian Andersen he had been commissioned by the Royal Danish Opera to create but had remained unfinished.

Lillian Axe will release their new studio album, Sad Day On Planet Earth, via Blistering Records on June 30th.

Bette Midler recently told E!'s Mark Malkin that her friendship with 50 Cent could lead to a duet.  "I'm going to have to check things out and see what he feels like singing."

Rhino will be releasing the new double-disc 25th Anniversary Edition of Twisted Sister's Stay Hungry on June 30th.  The second disc in the set contains unreleased studio recordings as well as a new track, "30," recorded by the original line-up of the band.

Madness' upcoming box set, The Liberty Of Norton Folgate, will be released in the U.S. for a limited time via Yep Roc Records.  "Dust Devil" has been released in the U.K. as a single from the album.

Juliana Hatfield's previously limited-edition CD, The White Broken Line: Live Recordings, has now been made available at digital media outlets.

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine told TheLiveLine.com that he's been working on some music for the score to the upcoming Will Ferrell film Land Of The Lost.

Tanya Tucker will release her new studio album, My Turn, via Saguaro Road Records on June 2nd.  The album sees Tucker cover classic country songs originally recorded by the all time great male legends of all time with a woman's point of view.

Frontiers Records has announced that they will release Howard Leese's new studio album, Secret Weapon, in Europe on July 3rd.  

Lionel Richie is scheduled to perform live on ABC's Good Morning America on May 29th at Central Park in New York City.

The Flaming Lips plan to release the double-disc follow-up to 2006's At War With The Mystics later this summer.  Meanwhile, frontman Wayne Coyne and Iggy Pop are among artists that contributed to the Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse album, Dark Night Of The Soul, which due to unspecified legal issues has been put on indefinite hiatus.  The album can be heard streaming exclusively at NPR.org in the music area.

Columbia Records has announced that they will release Slayer's new currently-untitled studio album on July 7th.

The Whispers have signed a deal with Kingdom Records to record their first gospel album expected out this fall.

Queensryche's American Soldier tour will head home on May 19th with their performance in Clearwater, Florida, which will be broadcast live digitally in High Definition at CDPulse.tv.  Fans will be able to purchase an e-ticket in advance for the 8PM ET show at the Web site for $5.95 and will be $7.95 for a ticket on the day of the show.

Doro will release her new studio album, Fear No Evil, via AFM/Dismanic/Ryko Distribution on June 2nd.

San Francisco-based punk act The Dwarves are currently working on their new studio album, The Dwarves Are Born Again.

What do you get when an 80s act covers the hits of their contemporaries?  You'd probably get Real Life's new release, Send Me An Angel: '80s Synth Essentials.  Due out next week it contains covers of songs by Depeche Mode, The Cure, Gary Numan, Eurythmics, Visage, New Order, Tears For Fears, B-Movie, Modern English, Soft Cell, Korgis and Kraftwerk as well as 3 versions of their own biggest hit.

Wynonna Judd's 7-track digital release, Sing: The Remixes, has surfaced at iTunes.

Guitarist/producer Stephen Bruton, 60, died on May 9th due to complications from throat cancer.  During the 1980s, he had worked on albums by Peter Case, Marcia Ball, Willie Nelson, T. Bone Burnett and Kris Kristofferson.  Later he would work with Bruce Cockburn, Mudhoney, Double Trouble, Bonnie Raitt, Alejandro Escovedo and release 5 solo albums from 1993 to 2005.  He also had acting roles in the films Heaven's Gate, A Star Is Born, Miss Congeniality and The Alamo.  Bruton had been working in Los Angeles with Burnett on the film, Crazy Heart, where he was serving as music producer and composer.
